UMSL Tritons weekly rewind

Junior Selena Nolte recorded 15 kills and a .500 hitting percentage as the UMSL volleyball team won its fourth straight match, a 3-0 sweep of Maryville on Saturday.

Volleyball
UMSL extended its win streak to four matches on Saturday with a sweep of crosstown foe Maryville. Junior Selena Nolte led the Tritons with 15 kills while hitting .500. UMSL (11-13, 4-9 Great Lakes Valley Conference) travels to Indianapolis this Tuesday before returning home to host Rockhurst on Friday and William Jewell on Saturday.

Men’s Soccer
The Tritons bounced back from a 2-0 loss at Illinois Springfield on Friday night to defeat Quincy 2-0 on Sunday as UMSL celebrated Senior Day in its home finale. Seniors Nick Harper and Oscar Gordillo both scored a goal. The Tritons (6-9, 5-7) will wrap up their 2018 season at McKendree this Wednesday night.

Women’s Soccer
UMSL lost 2-1 at Illinois Springfield on Friday, then fell 2-0 to Quincy on Sunday in its final home game. Freshman Maya Ware scored for the Tritons at UIS. UMSL (3-11-1, 2-9-1) will wrap up its 2018 season at McKendree this Wednesday night.

Women’s Golf
The Tritons recorded a seventh-place finish at the NCAA DII National Preview in their final fall event of the year. No. 16 UMSL turned in a 650 (322-328) in the tournament, held last Monday and Tuesday at the PGA National Resort in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. The resort will be the site of the 2019 NCAA DII Championships in May. The Tritons were among 12 teams that competed in the event, seven of which are ranked in the WGCA top 25, including four in the top 10. Individually, junior Emma Thorngren was the top UMSL finisher, placing 16th with a total score of 156.
