Emerge 2018 is a free, one-day conference at Vanderbilt University on Saturday, Oct. 27, for students, educators, entrepreneurs and the Nashville community to learn more about artificial intelligence.
Throughout the day, attendees will interact with industry leaders through lectures and breakout sessions that focus on the impact of AI on industries as diverse as healthcare and finance. Attendees will share thoughts during a dedicated networking session, lunch and breaks. More information is available on the event’s Facebook page here.
The keynote speaker will be Honeywell’s chief scientist for AI and machine learning, Chris Benson. The event is hosted by Vanderbilt University’s Women in Computing student organization and Association for Computing Machinery-W chapter.
Breakout speakers will be:
- Julie Shapiro, managing director, UBS, who manages finance technology, risk and analytics services;
- Doug Fisher, Vanderbilt computer science and computer engineering professor, who will discuss AI as a positive role model;
- Data scientist Kay Lim, manager, AI Accelerator at PwC Advisory, who explores and develops AI proofs of concept to solve business problems;
- Mathematician Lisha Li, principal, Amplify Partners, who focuses on machine learning, data-driven methods for startups and investments.
