The Tritons bounced back from an 82-66 loss at Lindenwood last Wednesday to post an 88-62 win over Purdue Northwest on Saturday in their home opener. Senior Arielle Jackson tallied a career-high 27 points against Lindenwood, while freshman McKenzie Lathrom recorded 27 points in the victory. Sophomore Alex LaPorta averaged a double-double in the two games, with 14 points and 11.5 rebounds. UMSL (1-3) hosts future Great Lakes Valley Conference member Southwest Baptist at 5 p.m. today and Kentucky State on Wednesday.
UMSL went 1-1 last week, defeating Webster 65-60 in its home opener on Monday before suffering its first setback of the season on Thursday in an 85-76 loss to No. 25 Missouri Southern. Senior Eric Dust averaged 16 points and 7.5 rebounds while junior Ronnie Carson added 14 points, 5.0 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game. The Tritons (3-1) take on St. Louis College of Pharmacy at 7 tonight at the Mark Twain Athletic Center. They also will host the UMSL Thanksgiving Classic on Friday and Saturday.
