Dartmouth Secures First Ivy Win Over Cornell, 5-4

HANOVER, N.H. – The No. 9 ranked Dartmouth women’s squash team secured its first Ivy League win with a 5-4 victory over No. 12 Cornell and pushed its record back to .500. Dartmouth is now 3-3 on the season, while Cornell drops to 1-4.
 
Julia Potter was the only member of the Big Green to earn a sweep, defeating her opponent, 11-2, 11-5 and 11-9.
 
Ellie Gozigian, Darden Gildea, Junnat Anwar and Emma Roberts all took care of their matchups in four games. Gozigian dropped the first game, but rebounded and won the next three, 11-8, 11-7 and 11-9. Gildea had a tough matchup, she won the first game, 11-9, and fell in the second by the same score, she then won the fourth game, 13-11 in extra points, and won the fifth, 11-8. Anwar dominated her first two games, 11-4 and 11-3, but dropped the third before blanking her opponent, 11-0, to pick up the win. Roberts won her first game, 12-10, dropped the second, 11-8, and completed the victory by taking the final two, 13-11 and 11-5.
 
Dartmouth has a tough contest next as they host No. 2 Trinity in Hanover on Saturday at 2 p.m.
