HANOVER, N.H. – Dartmouth women’s tennis came back from a dropped doubles point to defeat St. John’s, 5-2, at the Boss Tennis Center on Sunday afternoon. The Big Green improved to 2-3, while the Red Storm dipped to 3-2.
Junior Allison Chuang and sophomore Madison Hwang started the match with a 6-1 victory at the No. 3 doubles positions, but 6-1 wins by St. John’s at No. 1 and 2 gave the first point to the visitors.
After the Red Storm defaulted the No. 6 match to start singles, junior Catherine Cable added another win for Dartmouth with her 6-1, 6-0 victory over Jenelle Downer at the No. 5 position. St. John’s tied things up at 2-2 with a win at the top spot, but wins by junior Chuyang Guan at No. 3 and a three-setter by freshman Nicole Conard clinched the win for the Big Green.
Freshman Jingyi Peng put the final point on the board for Dartmouth as she defeated Olaya Inclan Solis, 3-6, 6-3, 6-3.
Next weekend, the Green will head to New Haven for the ECAC Indoor Championship.
