LAFAYETTE, Colo. – Dartmouth women’s rugby head coach Katie Dowty has been named head coach for the Collegiate All-American fifteens.
“The Collegiate All-Americans can have a hugely positive impact on the growth and visibility of our game in the American sporting landscape,” Dowty said in the official USA Rugby release. “We are eager to work with the community to keep opportunities accessible, discover new talent, continue to develop those already in the age-grade pathway and provide an experience that will see new faces put their hand up for the Women’s National Team.”
Dowty has served previous coaching roles with the Women’s Under-20s and Collegiate All-Americans and also played for the national team herself.
“It is a privilege to work with the All-Americans and a challenge I am excited to take on,” Dowty said. “With the growing support of universities across the country and the huge potential of NCAA rugby, the collegiate women’s game can be a driving force for USA Rugby. It is my hope to inspire more young women to see a future for themselves at the elite levels of the game – both at the collegiate level and beyond.”
She will be assisted by former Women’s Eagle captain and current assistant coach for Rugby United New York, Tiffany Faaee.
