TUCSON, Ariz. — After defeating Life University, 26-7, in the semifinals of the USA Rugby College 7s National Championship in the Women’s Elite Division, the Dartmouth women’s rugby team fell to Lindenwood in the title game, 24-7. It was the best finish for the Big Green at the championship event.
Freshman Emily Henrich, the MA Sorensen Award winner as the nation’s top women’s rugby player this year, continued to impress in the semifinals, providing three tries to Dartmouth’s winning effort. Her classmate, Ariana Ramsey, added the other try as the Big Green cruised into the finals.
But after sweeping through pool play on Saturday and continuing its streak in the semis, Dartmouth came up short against the Lions. The Big Green had edged Lindenwood in pool play, 15-12, but the Lions managed to avenge that defeat to claim the title.
