Dartmouth Races to Sixth After Day One of Coed National Championship

NEWPORT, R.I. – Day one of the Gill Coed National Championship from Newport, R.I. is in the books. After 16 races, Dartmouth is in sixth place in the Eastern Semifinals with 109 points. The top eight teams from the east and west semifinal will advance to the final which are on Thursday and Friday.  
Competing for the Big Green were seniors Christopher Williford, Mary Amis and Alyssa Berger, juniors Jack McGraw and Paige Clarke and freshman Carlota Hopkins Guerra.
Dartmouth’s Division A boat of skipper Williford and crews Amis and Hopkins Guerra collected 50 points. The group placed in the top five in five races and claimed two first-place finishes.
The Big Green’s Division B boat of skipper McGraw and crews Clarke and Berger picked up 59 points. The crew had three top-five finishes with one victory and a second-place mark.
Day two of the Gill Coed National Championship Semifinal is on Wednesday. Dartmouth needs to place in the top eight to advance to the final.
