NEWPORT, R.I. – The Dartmouth coed sailing team entered the second day of the Gill Coed National Championship semifinal one spot outside of the top eight. When the racing was said and done, the Big Green were in seventh and lived to compete for two more days in the final.
Competing for the Big Green were seniors Christopher Williford and Mary Amis, juniors Jack McGraw and Paige Clarke and sophomores Eloise Burn and Max Clapp.
Dartmouth’s Division A boat of skipper Williford and crews Amis and Burn picked up 41 points in six races. The group had a strong finish by placing in the top five in each of the final three races.
The Big Green’s Division B boat of skippers McGraw and Clapp with Clarke as the crew tallied 43 points. The squad placed in the top three in two different races.
The final of the Gill Coed National Championship is a two-day event that begins on Thursday and concludes on Friday.
