GOLD RIVER, Calif. – The Dartmouth heavyweight rowing team opened competition at the IRA National Championship Regatta in Gold River, California.
The Big Green are rowing in the 1V, 2V, 3V and the varsity 4+ events. After day one, Dartmouth is slated to row in the semifinals of three events after advancing through the initial heats today.
In the V8, the Big Green placed third in their initial heat (5:46.992) and went on to win the repêchage (5:51.039) to earn a slot in the semifinals.
The second V8 boat performed well, taking second place in the initial heat (5:49.782), ahead of Syracuse and Columbia, Oregon State and Santa Clara, to move directly on to the semifinal round.
Dartmouth’s third V8 took third place in its first heat (5:54.238). The Big Green then went on to race in the repêchage and finished second (5:54.854) to advance to the semifinal.
The Varsity 4+ came in fourth place in the second heat (6:39.564). They then finished second in the repêchage (6:41.12).
