Heavyweights Compete in IRA National Championship Final

GOLD RIVER, Calif. – Dartmouth heavyweight rowing concluded its season in the final of the IRA National Championship on Lake Natoma in Gold River, Calif. Racing in the Petite finals for the Big Green were 1V, 2V, 3V and the varsity 4+.

Dartmouth’s V8 finished in fifth place with a time of 5:46.747 ahead of Cornell (5:48.430). Competing against the Big Green were Brown (5:42.892), Boston University (5:44.207), Syracuse (5:44.680) and Stanford (5:46.763).

The second V8 had the best finish of the day, coming on second with a time of 5:51.919, only behind Boston University (5:50.124). Dartmouth placed ahead of Northeastern (5:52.976), Navy (5:53.279), Syracuse (5:54.964) and Cornell (6:02.053).

The Big Green’s third V8 raced against Northeastern, Boston University, Syracuse, Navy and Wisconsin. Dartmouth crossed the finish line in sixth (6:01.763).

Dartmouth’s Varsity 4+ boat had a strong showing, crossing the finish line in third with a time of 6:34.841 ahead of Navy (6:36.394), Harvard (6:36.504) and Holy Cross (6:39.851). Boston University came in first (6:32.602) and Marist was in second (6:33.506).
