HANOVER, N.H. – Dartmouth field hockey head coach Amy Fowler has announced the leadership group for the 2019 season.
Senior Katie Spanos will serve as the team’s captain, while classmate Jocelyn Wulf will assume the role of assistant captain for the upcoming fall season.
“Congratulations to Katie and Jocelyn, who have already started to connect with their leadership roles as captain and assistant captain, respectively,” Fowler said. “We are excited to see them grow and develop over the summer and into preseason. They, along with the help of their returning teammates, have set the stage for an exciting year for DFH19.
“Katie and Jocelyn complement each other quite well and again have used the spring term to really lay significant ground work as to the direction the team is taking as we prepare for the 2019 campaign,” the head coach added.
Spanos is coming off an impressive junior campaign in which she once again led the team in scoring, while being named to the All-Ivy League First Team as well as the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) All-Northeast Region Second Team.
Leading the team in both goals (9) and points (19), Spanos became the first Dartmouth player in four years to lead the team in scoring in consecutive seasons en route to her second straight All-Ivy honor.
Wulf has proven to be one of the team’s most invaluable if not underappreciated players. She came off the bench in all 17 games last season, making her one of the Big Green’s top reserves. She scored twice in her junior campaign and finished with a career-high five points.
Spanos, Wulf and the rest of the 2019 Dartmouth field hockey team start the season on Friday, Sept. 6 in Boston against Northeastern.
