NEW LONDON, Conn. â€“ The Dartmouth sailing team traveled to New London, Conn. over the weekend and took home a third-place finish in the Women’s Showcase and an eighth-place result at the Danmark Trophy.
Skippers Audrey Giblin and Kathryn Hall and crews Paige Clarke, Carlota Hopkins Guerra and Aisling Sullivan raced to third place out of 16 teams at the women’s showcase hosted by Connecticut College. The Division A boat of Giblin, Clarke and Hopkins Guerra had nine top-five finishes and two wins for 86 points. The B boat of Hall and Sullivan placed in the top five in eight races and also won two for 101 points.
In the Danmark Trophy hosted by Coast Guard, skippers Boyd Bragg and Noah Simmons and crews Maddie Sharp, Christopher Long and Eloise Burn raced to eighth place out of 20 teams, The A boat of Bragg, Sharp and Long placed in the top five in seven races with two victories for 149 points. The B boat of Simmons and Burn had four top-five finishes and totaled 196 points.
The Big Green are scheduled to compete in two races next weekend (Oct. 5-6): They will host the Hewitt Trophy and race in the Coed Showcase Round One at St. Mary’s College in Maryland.
