PROVIDENCE, R.I. â€“ The Dartmouth field hockey team fell on the road to non-conference Providence, 5-1, Sunday afternoon.
Freshman Holley Cromwell scored the lone Big Green (3-7) goal of the afternoon, finding the back of the cage for the second time in her career in the 48th minute.
Izzy Mendez scored a pair of goals for the Friars (7-4), while three others scored once for the home team.
Meg Barnes picked up an assist on Cromwell’s goal, the second of her career as well.
Though saddled with the loss, sophomore goalkeeper Isabella Santucci played well, making 12 stops, the second-best single-game total of her time in a Dartmouth uniform. Her counterpart in Providence’s Lydia Rice made four saves in her 52 minutes of action.
The Green and White stay on the road next weekend, heading to Penn to take on the Quakers Saturday, Oct. 12 at noon.
