Sailing Competes in Three Races

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Dartmouth sailing competed in the Yale Women’s, Coed Showcase Championship finals and the Oberg Trophy over the weekend.

The Big Green’s best result came at Yale. Skippers Kathryn Hall and Payton Thompson and crews Aisling Sullivan and Carlota Hopkins Guerra finished third out of 17 boats. The A boat of Hall and Sullivan had four top-five finishes with one victory for 109 points. Thompson and Hopkins Guerra had the best score of B boats with 65 points. The duo was in the top five in nine races with two wins.

Skippers Boyd Bragg and Audrey Giblin and crews Eloise Burn and Paige Clarke finished fifth in the Coed Championship Finals with 149 points. The Division A boat of Bragg and Burn had four top-five finishes for 77 points, while the B boat of Giblin and Clarke won two races with five top-five marks for 72 points.

The team of skippers Noah Simmons, James Paul and Nick Hurley and crews Emma Barska, Josh Cherner and Christopher Cheng placed 11th at the Oberg Trophy. The A boat of Simmons and Barska placed in the top five in four races with one win for 44 points. The B boat of Paul and Cherner raced to 58 points with three marks in the top five.

Dartmouth concludes its fall season with three races next weekend (Oct.26-27): The Schell Trophy at MIT, the Urn Trophy at Harvard and the Nickerson Trophy at Tufts.
