HANOVER, N.H. — A day after HERO Sports listed Dartmouth cornerback Isiah Swann on its FCS All-America Third Team, the Associated Press announced its FCS All-America squads with the senior defensive stalwart on the second team.

UPDATE (Dec. 19): Swann received his third All-America honor of the 2019 postseason, this time from STATS on its FCS Second Team.

This season, Swann continued to terrorize opposing quarterbacks, picking off four passes to lead the Ivy League while successfully defending 15 throws, tying him for the conference lead, despite missing the first three games with an injury. The 6-0, 195-pound senior returned two of his interceptions for touchdowns, tying the Dartmouth single-season record while breaking the program’s career mark with four pick-sixes.

Due to Swann’s missed time, the native of Queen Creek, Arizona, does not qualify for the individual national rankings. But if a game were added to his total, his per-game average of 1.88 passes defended would rank second in the FCS. The last of his Dartmouth-record 17 career interceptions came on the final defensive play of the year in the end zone, preserving a 29-23 victory at Brown and clinching the Big Green’s share of the Ivy League title.

Swann finished the season with 31 tackles, including an assisted one for a loss, to go with his four interceptions for 92 yards and two touchdowns as well as his 11 pass breakups. For his career, he brought down 141 opponents with 2.5 for a loss (one sack) with 17 interceptions for 242 yards and four scores, 32 passes broken up, one forced fumble, one fumble recovery and one blocked kick.

For the second consecutive year, Swann was also one of the 26 finalists from across the country — and the only one from the Ivy League — for the Buck Buchanan Award, which recognizes the top defensive player in the FCS. The cornerback ended up 20th in the voting after finishing fifth last year when he was a unanimous All-American for leading all of Division I with nine interceptions.
