HANOVER, N.H. – After an impressive weekend that resulted in a Ledyard Classic title for the Dartmouth men’s hockey team, Drew O’Connor and Adrian Clark were recognized by the ECAC Hockey league office with weekly honors.
For the second time this season, O’Connor was named the conference’s Player of the Week, while Clark was tabbed as the Goaltender of the Week for the third time in his career and first of 2019-20.
O’Connor led all ECAC Hockey players in points this week, registering five on three goals and a pair of assists. His strong weekend also garnered Ledyard Classic All-Tournament Team recognition. He started with a two-goal, three-point night in the Big Green’s 5-2 win over Colorado College on Saturday, before adding a goal and an assist against UConn in the team’s third-period comeback to win the tournament.
Nationally, O’Connor was second in scoring (5) and tied for third in goals (3), alongside linemate Quin Foreman, who was tabbed as the tournament MVP for netting the late winner against the Huskies.
At the other end of the ice from all of O’Connor’s scoring was Clark doing his best to prevent the opposition from doing so. In two games, he turned aside 70-of-75 shots faced for a .933 save percentage and a 2.50 goals against average. For his efforts in leading Dartmouth to its first Ledyard title since the 2015-16 season, Clark was named the tournament’s Most Outstanding Goaltender.
The senior netminder stepped up when he had to most, making 41 saves in the title game against UConn, including 17 in the third period alone.
O’Connor, Clark and the rest of the Big Green now prepare to head out on the road to take on conference foes Princeton and Quinnipiac on Friday and Saturday evenings. Both games will be carried live on ESPN+.
This is the third time total this season that a Dartmouth player as earned the top honors as O’Connor won in November and Sam Hesler was named the ECAC Hockey Player of the Week prior to the winter break.
Quinnipiac’s Jayden Lee was named the ECAC Hockey Rookie of the Week.
