HANOVER, N.H. — The second week of “Big Green Classic” — live streams of Dartmouth fall sporting events from the recent past with commentary from some of the players and coaches — will feature a 2016 field hockey matchup between the Big Green and Bryant. The event will be streamed Wednesday evening at 7 p.m. on the Dartmouth Sports YouTube channel with alumnae Sarah Tabeek ’18 and Carmen Braceras ’20 joining host Brett Franklin to discuss the game and their Dartmouth experience.
The Big Green entered the contest having lost its first two games of the season, one to a team ranked in the top 10 nationally and the other to a squad that was receiving votes in the national polls. Both Braceras and Tabeek ended up playing integral roles in the contest as Dartmouth was on a quest for its first win of the 2016 campaign.
Tabeek, a midfielder from Quincy, Massachusetts, was a junior on that squad en route to earning All-Ivy League honors for the first of two times in her Big Green career. Her eight assists that season doubled that of anyone else on the squad and tied for third among all players in the Ancient Eight. She finished her career with one goal and 16 assists spanning 61 games.
Braceras, on the other hand, was playing in just her third collegiate game as a freshman and went on to score seven goals — sharing the team lead — while pacing the squad with 15 points. The forward from Quincy, Massachusetts played in every game during her four years in Hanover (68), starting all but three times, and scored 20 goals while dishing out eight assists.
Be sure to tune in to the Dartmouth Sports YouTube channel on Wednesday evening at 7 p.m. to watch the game unfold and hear insight on the strategies and behind-the-scenes discussions. The link will be available on this page 24 hours before the event starts.
