BUFFALO, N.Y. — Ordinarily, University at Buffalo President Satish K. Tripathi would deliver his annual State of the University address live before a crowd of UB students, faculty and staff.

But 2020 has been anything but ordinary, so this year Tripathi’s address — his ninth as UB’s president — has been pre-recorded.

Members of the media are invited to view the speech beginning at 8 a.m. Friday, Oct. 16, at the following link: http://www.buffalo.edu/president/from-the-president/speeches/2020-state-of-the-university.html. It will be available throughout the day.

In it, Tripathi discusses the university’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic and its impact on UB, as well as progress made by the President’s Advisory Council on Race and major accomplishments among faculty and staff.

“Throughout the pandemic, our entire university community has doubled down on our mission-driven priority to contribute to the welfare and well-being of the communities we serve,” Tripathi says. “This is how a great public research university responds in times of crisis: Not by wringing our hands, but by rolling up our sleeves.”
